NOTES

Continuing the Pretender Origins that begun with Nightmare Project.

As seen in previous episodes, we are presenting a "remastered" version of the original comics (new lettering, revised texts).
In "History Repeats", we proudly feature an extra layer of art and special effects by Ibai!

This episode is a multy-layered aggregation of continuity nods:
1. Beast wars. The plot is the same: time-jumping spaceship chase, fall on a planet, hostile environment with raw energon radiation and adaptation by changing of the external robotic forms.
2. Robots In Disguise (Car Robots). the "body" of Fortress Maximus has been hiding on another planet for centuries.
3. Masterforce. The Pretenders (well, some of them) came to an organic planet and become monsters to adapt.

In our specific G1 cartoon continuity, which one day maybe we will tell in detail, the "Max" and "Nok" spaceship (actually, two mobile building platforms at the time) escaped Cybertron alongside the Exodus Fleet that reached Paradron (see "Fight Or Flee").
After helping build the cities of Paradron, another crisis forced the two ships to leave the planet and travel through the same space-warping wormhole that granted access to Paradron.
An interference in "jump" dislocated them nearby Nebulos, on which they fell, going offline.

These events lay the basis for "The Rebirth", thus explaining the presence of two Cybertronian citybots on the planet (even though the Nebulans were NOT aware of the nature of these cities).

In 2008, Iguanus finds out the truth about Fortress Maximus and Scorponok...and decides to attempt a timetravel to seize control of these cities before Nebulans do (they travel back in time by using Quintesson technology, because Cybertronians do not master chronal-science yet).

In panels 1 and 2, some glimpses of the Nebulan Ring can be seen, in a nod to the original Marvel version of the planet. The Ring is not there in "The Rebirth", because some catastrophic events made it collapse.

"Synthoplasmic shells" is the definition used by Scorponok in G1 Marvel US comics to describe the nature of the Pretenders (which were one of his creations!).

Are these re-issues 'officially' part of the LS continuity..?
