Inspector Casati, from Intrigue at King's Court, is back. Even though we don't get to see his face, that is his beard and backhead in the last panel.

For the first time, the only existing picture of Karnifex can be seen, standing on a corner of Casati's desk.
Casati obtained that picture in the un-produced episode 1 of the series.
Even though the image is a blurr, Casati is able to recognize Karnifex.
He is aware that the Karnifex identity moves from one human being to another, and he is not bothered by the fact that the mask and the suit of the killer change constantly: for all these reasons, common people are not aware of the threat of any Karnifex (the murders seem to be unrelated), and it's also the reason only Casati can see the truth.

Casati's past mistakes took place in an un-produced story in which Casati unmasked Karnifex, but was forced to forge a non-belligerance pact with him in order to pursue a mafia-man.
Needless to say, the whole thing ricocheted: Casati saw once again Karnifex die by committing suicide and failed at seizing the suit or finding out the truth.
